Hi everyone! Susan here… with another of my Austin Tees. Sorry not sorry. Since I already have eight(!) of them in my closet and they’re each getting worn on the regular, what choice do I have but to share another one with y’all today?
I feel pretty sure you know this fabric. 😉 It’s Melissa’s Idle Wild print, and I’ve been hoarding it foreverrrr. The more I love a fabric, the more aging it seems to get in my stash. I won’t use it until I’m already sure that a pattern fits me just right and it won’t end up in the donation pile.
But as I’ve mentioned, the Austin fits me to a T (haha). So the cool thing is that the ones in my closet are ones I really love, because I was trusting enough to cut into the fabrics for them.
Since I can’t-stop-won’t-stop making Austins, I do like to change it up a little sometimes. For this one, I made it a rounded v neck! I love the shape of v necklines, and it gives me other necklace options. 🙂
To make the v, I widened the neckline an inch on each side, then drew the curved v down to the dot on the center front of the pattern (that dot noting where to stop sewing for the split neck version). Then I widened the back neckline the same amount, blending to the original depth. I sewed the neckband in like this.
And one last note —Â The first printing of this fabric sold out quickly, and it did get reprinted. So it can still be found now and then on Etsy!
