Who’s getting ready for football season? Believe it or not, in our house that starts at the end of July! Today Erin sewed the versatile Juniper Jersey in a slouchy sporty style that’s spot on trend…
Hiya! Erin from Sewbon here today to share with you my latest favorite shirt, the Juniper Jersey! This shirt is so soft and comfy… I think it’s going to be perfect for football season and lounging season (aka, all the time).
For fabric, I upcycled two super soft men's XXL t-shirts. I also seam ripped out the neck band to reuse. I always have the hardest time finding ribbing fabric to match my fabric, so this was such a simple solution! Also, by upcycling some t-shirts, I was able to reuse the existing hems!
I typically like my t-shirts to be loose, so instead of cutting the size Small that aligned with my measurements, I sized up to the Medium and used the X-Large length. I really love the fit of this shirt, it's perfectly slouchy!
I wanted to add a little something extra to the sleeves, so I made a pretty easy modification. I just cut apart the sleeve and sewed in some additional bands of fabric. I really like how it turned out and I feel it gives this shirt a sporty feel. (Note from Melissa - picture for how to do sleeve embellishment HERE)
Overall, I'm thrilled with how this shirt turned out and I'm planning on having it on heavy rotation. I'm also considering making another in Broncos colors... 🙂
Oh, and if you are interested in making the ribbon shoe laces that I'm wearing in these pictures, I would love it if you checked out the tutorial HERE on my blog!
