Hi! It’s Tami from SewSophieLynn here today and I’m excited to share our take on the Little Bow Pleat Dress perfect for a special occasion or as the ideal base for your next Halloween costume!
This pattern is a classic a-line dress with a darling bow at the neckline (that we left off for now). In sizes 18m to 8 with a mandarin collar, puffed sleeves, deep front pleat and zipper back this is a staple pattern that can get used again and again. My sweet girl can wear it dressed up for church or other special occasions. She was right in between size 6 and 7 and I sized up but I may do a 6 next time. I used a Casa Collection matte satin from Joann for a more structured look that really showcases the shape of the dress.
This month's blog theme is Imaginative and I knew this dress was the perfect base to get creative for some Halloween fun. We created two great looks using this dress and we both just adore them! I love how inexpensive and simple they were to create (each look was under $10 for accessories to complete the costume).
This little miss is a bit of a drama queen so a fun Breakfast at Tiffany's inspired Audrey Hepburn look was so fitting. We threw on my pearls and sunglasses, purchased some long black gloves, a tiny tiara, and a Tiffany blue gift bag and our little Audrey was born!
Such a charming, simple costume that will be the talk of the school costume parade!
Our second look was just as easy.
With some adorable striped tights, hat, and broom she makes the cutest little witch I ever did see. I'm not a huge fan of the spooky side of Halloween but give me all the darling pumpkins, ghosts, and pretty costumes and I'm one happy lady. This sweet witch is just the quintessential costume to me!
I really dread sewing costumes that will be used for just one night and this is the perfect solution for me. A simple dress that can be worn throughout the year!
