Hey y’all – I am SO EXCITED to introduce to you an entirely new sewing team for the 2016-2017 year! This team is the most diverse crew I’ve had – not just in their backgrounds but also in their preferred sharing platforms – we have a few here who are mainly Instagrammers and a YouTube Vlogger. I love thinking about all the different viewpoints they’re going to bring to us this year.
So let’s meet them!
Before I get to Susan’s bio, I have a little further introduction of her to make – Susan has been working behind the scenes here for 6 months, and if you’re enjoying our Facebook group, well, that’s because of her. Susan also helps with customer service, pattern testing, admins the @blankslatepatterns Instagram account (which you should all follow!) and is generally my sewing sister whenever I need her. So even though you may not have known it, you have already benefited from Susan’s work here.
Since Susan began sewing seriously in 2009, she has been determined to vanquish fit challenge after fit challenge. She loves writing about sewing and on occasion, body image. She can’t wait to see what new things she’ll learn about both with her next project. She lives in central Texas with her husband Al and dog Elphie, and when she’s not sewing she loves to spend time baking, playing boardgames, walking, and seeing musicals.

Stefanie is a wearer of many hats -and to sum it up- she is a wife, mother, freelance writer, and full-time college student. In addition to that, she happily works part-time at Finch Knitting + Sewing Studio as shop assistant where she updates their website and Instagram feed on a daily basis. When she isn’t writing or studying for exams, Stefanie can be found either reading, sewing her own garments, or hoarding yarn for projects that she will not knit for years while she dreams of going out to dinner.

Hi there! My name is Monica, a modern art restorer, born and bred in Barcelona, such an inspirational city. I am married to Mr D. and we have two beautiful children: a 6 yo girl and a 3 yo boy. I took up self-taught sewing when my girl was born, and I also started my blog: ma me mi mo. Nowadays, I sew for myself and my kids, and sometimes for my husband too, who patiently awaits his turn for handmade clothes. And I also teach others their way into sewing, which I really love. Sewing has brought many good things to my life, especially the people I have had the chance to meet and become friends with, thanks to this passion.

I’m Yasmeen, a doctor living in Wales with my husband. My free time has been filled with all things sewing since I taught myself to sew almost 3 years ago. I love to make garments for my everyday wardrobe and share all my makes over on Instagram.
More recently (after much nagging!) I have started making my husband shirts and am actually really enjoying sewing menswear! My proudest sewing achievement has to be my wedding dress I made earlier this year which was a labour of love! I’m excited to be part of the Blank Slate sewing team this year!

Back in 2010, I found myself living in a new, rainy city. With few friends, still looking for work, I found I needed a creative outlet. Enter sewing. I took a few classes and found so much more than a skill. I discovered sewing blogs and from them found friends online and off. I have the best time meeting sewists and talking about the craft.
As far as sewing goes, I love making classic pieces: shirt dresses, basic tops and trousers. I’d love to stretch my skills and dabble in undergarments and outerwear one day. I also truly enjoy fitting. I’m no expert but I love the journey.
With two young kids at home, I am still learning how to juggle sewing into my day-to-day. When I can’t sew, I spend a spare moment baking with my 3 year old helper.

I’m a busy stay at home mom of 5 kids (ages 14-4). My days are filled with soccer games and dance recitals so I really look forward to my afternoon nap times when it’s just me and my sewing machines! I learned to sew as a child but didn’t really start sewing clothing until my oldest daughter was born (tiny baby girl clothes are the BEST!). Now it’s so rewarding being able to make clothes that fit my kids tall, skinny little bodies. I love a good sew for myself every now and then too 😉 I started blogging about a year ago as a way to document all my pattern tests and it’s been such a fun journey. I’ve learned I love taking pictures of my makes almost as much as sewing them. It helps to have five adorable little models!

I’m Fleurine, or Marie-Fleurine, as my full name is. I’m a German girl living in Northern Norway, where family roots and love brought me. Here I enjoy life between mountains and fjords, together with my husband and our dog. I’m an advisor at the County Governor’s office by day, but I spend all my spare time in front of my sewing machine or hiking in the mountains.
I love sewing my own garments and documenting my makes at Sew Mariefleur and on Instagram. My style can be described as both classic, modern and a little romantic, combined with little twists.

Lindsey is one-half of the sewing duo at Inside The Hem, a YouTube channel dedicated to all things sewing, but mostly garment sewing.
Lindsey met Abbey shortly after they each started sewing and a friendship quickly formed. A social media manager by day, Lindsey had always wanted her own YouTube channel and in February of 2016, she finally convinced Abbey to take the leap with her. The duo have been posting videos of pattern reviews, sewing tips, favorite things, fabric hauls, and sewing plans ever since.
Lindsey lives in Charleston, SC where the temperatures are hot and humidity is high so you’ll mostly see her making dresses, shorts and breezy tops.
