Hi there! Sarah from The Crazy Tailor here with a fun little top, the Pristine Swing Top (originally a dress!).
I made this up in a stretch satin with a beautiful cotton for the contrast yoke. I love how festive it is, but still totally wearable for the rest of the winter!
This pattern is great for wovens or knits, and the fun yoke detail really lets you mix and match things up. I went with an elbow length sleeve, and put an elastic casing in instead of hemming.
Also, this obviously is a dress pattern, not a top pattern, but that's an easy modification. I eyeballed (I know, not an exact science, but it works) where the top should end, and cut there (adding in some seam allowance for a casing), keeping the original a-line shape of the pattern intact. That made for a nice bubbly hem once the elastic went in.
Melissa's note: The Pristine Swing Dress pattern includes tunic and dress length markings, so eyeballing where a top length should end is a little easier because of that.
I paired this with a self-drafted polka dot tulle skirt, and it's just perfect! The stretch satin makes it a comfortable and fun top for little girls to wear. J said she felt like a ballerina!
Clearly we need to work on the graceful ballet moves...ha! You can grab your copy of the Pristine Swing Dress here!
