Hi y’all! I’m back with something other than a Marbella this time. 😉 Today I have one of my Shoreline Boatneck versions – a slouchy one that’s high on the coziness scale.
When Melissa began re-releasing some of the women's Blank Slate Patterns to expand the size range, the Shoreline was at the very top of my wish list. A pair-with-jeans pattern that can be made in knit or woven, is relaxed fit, and is infinitely hackable? Speaking my love language.
For this one, I wanted it a little oversized to blatantly copy some of the awesome ones I've seen like that, so I sized up from my normal 2X. This gives the shoulders a little drop and the sleeves plenty of room for cuffing. Next time, I would probably keep my normal size for the neckline.
I used a cotton/lycra french terry that I bought from Raspberry Creek Fabrics. This was one of her club prints and unfortunately it's not currently available. But, this one is the same substrate and might be my next purchase. This stuff is amazing! I love french terry, and this one is even better for me than most, because it's only about as thick as a midweight jersey. Perfect for the Texas climate.
At least... for those few weeks a year that it drops below 60 degrees.
I also have a couple of woven versions already. I am a double gauze addict (especially Nani Iro prints, mmmm), but I always have trouble finding patterns that pair well with it. Double gauze has a floaty drape, and it is fairly unstructured. So it isn't crisp enough for a lot of fitted garments and also isn't drapey enough for most loose ones. But it's perfect for the Shoreline. The one I'm wearing in the listing is my favorite - I'd wear it several times per week if I did laundry that often. Must. Make. More...
