Hello all! This is Courtney from Sweeter Than Cupcakes, and I am thrilled to be sharing my Shoreline Boatneck with you. (affiliate link) Being fairly new to sewing for myself rather than for my children, I jumped at the challenge to sew up a Blank Slate women’s pattern. Some of my favorite tops in my closet are woven tee-like tops, so the Shoreline Boatneck appealed to me right from the start.
Normally I would reach for a solid fabric for myself, but this rayon challis had been buried in my stash for far too long. I must say, wearing rayon challis is just as cozy as a knit tee! I did stumble at first with my sizing, but this, my friends, is why we muslin! After doing a small bust adjustment on the size large, I switched to a straight size medium. Ta-da, perfect fit!
Don’t judge me for pulling on white pants after Labor Day! In my defense, these photos actually took place before Labor Day. Swapping sandals out for a slip-on or bootie takes white pants well into fall.
The great thing about the Shoreline Boatneck is the opportunity it presents for customization. Swapping out knit fabrics for wovens is a simple change, but I also suggest adding a peplum or a ruffle sleeve that is so trendy at the moment. Having figured out the challenge of the sizing, it will now be fun to play!
