Hey there Melly Sews readers! It’s Teresa here from Dandelion Drift and I have a great wardrobe staple to share with you today! This is one of Melissa’s newer patterns, the Texana Tank. I love the fit of this tank and definitely will sew many more Texana Tanks!
My size was right in between size x-small and small, so I went ahead and sewed up the small, and I love the fit. I love all the details of this pattern. There are two different back options, racer back and scoop back, two front options, scoop front and henley placket. I did a bit of a combo of different options from the pattern.
Melissa has a back pleat option to pair with the racer back tank. You can see that I opted to not do the back pleat. I layered the racer back pattern piece on top of the scoop neck back piece, making sure the shoulder seams were aligned, and blended the two pattern pieces together.
I also did the henley placket option. I’ve never sewn a henley placket before and Melissa’s instructions are great!
The fabric I used is leftover fabric from a union street tee I made years ago. It is some sort of poly blend knit that I found at the Jo Ann’s clearance fabric table. It was super inexpensive and I love the print!
Here’s a quick recap of all the details of my tank
Pattern: Texana Tank
Fabric: Jo Anns clearance fabric
Size: Small
Modifications: I blended the racer back with the scoop back
P.S. Take a look at those shorts! I made them from leftover denim fabric I had from making a pair of jeans. You can read more about my new jean shorts on my blog!
