Hi! I’m Stephanie, Doctora Botones on social media and this is my post for the “What’s on top?” theme! I love plaid shirts, they are so comfy, so classic but at the same time with that style of woodcutter that leads me to imagine being in front of a fireplace in a house on the mountain and with the meadow full of snow. I would be wearing this type of shirt all winter!
For this month, I knew I wanted to use the Novelista pattern. This type of shirt is popular in many different styles; one of them combines the shirt body with sweatshirt sleeves. That’s what I did by mixing Novelista and Zinnia Jacket patterns.
I used the Zinnia Jacket to get the raglan style, using one size larger for the front and back pieces. I lengthened both front and back, leaving the back longer and curving the hems. I used the placket, pockets, and collar stand pieces from the Novelista pattern. I also had to lengthen the collar stand pieces to fit them to the Zinnia pattern and left it as it is for a mandarin-style collar.
The fabrics are flannel for front and back pieces and light french terry for sleeves. I love the contrast with woven and knit fabrics and the result is a very comfy shirt!
Have a nice day and happy sewing!
