Hey everybody! Brittany here of BrittanyJJones.com and I’m so excited to share with you all what I created using two Blank Slate Patterns, the Catalina Dress and Forsythe Trousers! (affiliate links) Lately, I’ve really been interested in doing more pattern hacking. So I decided to create what I’m completely obsessed with making and can’t get enough of…..a jumpsuit!
These two patterns worked great for creating a jumpsuit! The Catalina Dress is already designed with a waistline seam so pairing that with the Forsythe Trousers waist made for an easy hack.
To create the jumpsuit, I only had to make two changes to the patterns. For the top back, I did not cut on the fold. Instead, I cut two backs adding 5/8” seam allowance for a center back zipper. The other adjustment I made was for the waistband. I folded the waistband in half lengthwise and added 5/8” seam allowance to those two sides I cut. I did this so I would be able to create an elastic casing and have a nice finish on the inside.
I love the final look of this jumpsuit! I had a great time hacking and sewing these two Blank Slate Patterns. It reminded me of the most important part about sewing, to always have fun and be creative!
