I love seeing how people sew up the Rose T-Shirt without the woven fabric detail as much as I love seeing the combinations with it. Today Erin left the detail out, and the dress has a whole new sophisticated look.
Heyo! Erin from Sewbon here today to share with you my take on the Rose T-Shirt Dress!
Loose, comfortable clothing is kind of my thing. If it feels like I'm wearing a blanket, I probably love it. And this little, black Rose T-Shirt Dress is no exception.
I sewed up the size small dress (longer version) in a thick, textured black mystery knit from a local shop in Denver. If I had to guess, I would peg this fabric as some sort of a ponte de roma since it definitely has some polyester mixed in.
Since I wanted a simple black dress, I omitted the woven detailed pattern pieces from the front yoke and cut my front yoke using the 'Front Facing' pattern piece. I slimmed down the sleeves a bit as my arms are fairly scrawny and hemmed them to just above the elbow. I also omitted the bottom band from the dress and hemmed it normally. I'm glad I cut the longer length of the dress version to make up for leaving off the band. Otherwise, I think it would have been a bit too short.
Overall, I love this dress and am planning on wearing it a ton this winter!
